Wings of Hope is a charity reception. All proceeds support CARD’s services for children with autism or autism spectrum disorders. Housed in the College of Education, FAU CARD serves as a multidisciplinary learning laboratory for members of the community including FAU undergraduate and graduate students. One of seven such centers in the state, FAU CARD currently serves more than 4,500 clients, most diagnosed with autism or autism spectrum disorders such as Asperger's Syndrome, Pervasive Development Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified, Rett's Syndrome and Childhood Disintegrative Disorder. FAU CARD acts as a clearinghouse of information, and its services and programs reflect a strong belief in early intervention and including people with autism in the community. The focus of FAU CARD is to optimize the potential of people with autism and related disabilities by enabling them to learn, work, communicate and socialize in the community. In addition to locations in Boca Raton, Jupiter, and the Treasure Coast, CARD’s specially equipped van serves as a mobile assessment clinic by bringing FAU CARD professionals to various locations to provide free screenings to children, ages 18 months to 5 years old, who present signs of autism and other developmental disabilities. Service areas include Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Indian River counties.
