Adult Education Certification

For K-12 personnel currently programmed or already holding a K-12 administrative certification, we recommend the following courses to meet the 6-credit add-on certification in Adult Education:

  • ADE 6265 (required) and
  • ADE 6184 or ADE 6381

State Requirements: Specialization Requirements for Certification in Administration of Adult Education--Administrative Class.

To be eligible for certification in administration of adult education, an applicant shall complete the requirements specified below:

  1. Hold a professional certificate,
  2. Submit verification of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience as specified in Rule 6A-4.002(5)(a), FAC., and
  3. Complete one (1) of the following plans:
    1. Plan One. Hold a master's or higher degree with a graduate degree major in administration of adult education, or
    2. Plan Two. Hold a master's or higher degree with a graduate degree major in educational administration, administration and supervision, or educational leadership, and complete at least six (6) semester hours of graduate credit as specified below:
      1. Three (3) semester hours in organization and administration of adult education, [ADE 6265] [required]
      2. Three (3) semester hours in principles of adult education [ADE 6381], adult education curriculum [ADE 6184], supervision of adult education, or methods and materials in adult instruction, or
    3. Plan Three. Hold a master's or higher degree and complete graduate credit as specified below:
      1. Nine (9) semester hours in school administration which includes at least three (3) semester hours in organization and administration of adult education [ADE 6265], [required]
      2. Three (3) semester hours in basic school supervision or supervision of adult education, and
      3. Six (6) semester hours in curriculum which includes at least three (3) semester hours in adult education curriculum [ADE 6184], or
    4. Plan Four. Hold a professional certificate covering elementary or secondary administration or educational leadership and complete at least six (6) semester hours of graduate credit as specified below:
      1. Three (3) semester hours in organization and administration of adult education [ADE 6265], and
      2. Three (3) semester hours in principles of adult education [ADE 6381], adult education curriculum, supervision of adult education, or methods and materials in adult instruction.
